The Byron wrestling team sent two athletes to the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament this past weekend and came home with two State champions!
Maxwell Petersen won the AA 106 pound championship and his brother Mitchel took the AA 120 pound win.
"We had a great weekend," Coach Ryan Radke said. "The boys came to wrestle. There are always nerves when you come up here, but after both the boys won by tech fall their first round, I was beyond confident in the boys focus.
"They were focused all weekend and got it done. What a great day to be a Byron Bear!"
Byron wrestling now has four State champions and Maxwell Petersen also set a school record with 45 season wins. The previous record was held by Eric Yngsdal who had 44 wins in a season.
