It has been talked about for decades and progress has come slowly but finally the last portion of the expansion of Highway 14 from Owatonna to Rochester has been fully funded.
The funding was included in the Omnibus Bonding Bill passed at the end of the 2017-2018 legislative session and signed by Gov. Mark Dayton last Wednesday.
Sen. John Jasinski (R-Faribault) and Sen. David Senjem (R-Rochester) lost no time in celebrating after Dayton signed the bonding bill approving the funds Wednesday morning. Jasinski and Senjem were joined by other legislators, Minnesota Department of Transportation officials and local business people at a news conference at Al-Corn Clean Fuel in Claremont.
"It's an exciting day, to say the least," Jasinski said at a news conference at the Al-Corn plant in Claremont Wednesday, shortly after Dayton signed the bill. "I can't tell you how excited I am and what it means for Highway 14, District 24 and across southern Minnesota."
