A Dodge County woman has been charged with first-degree murder in Florida for allegedly killing Pamela Hutchinson, according to Tuesday's Star Tribune.
Lois Riess was indicted on first-degree murder charges Monday, June 6. She was scheduled to appear in court on June 11 for the new charge but declined to make the court appearance. The first-degree murder charge supersedes the second-degree murder charge she was originally charged with. Authorities allege that Riess killed Hutchinson because of their similar appearance.
After allegedly killing Hutchinson, Riess stole her identity, car and belongings and left Florida. She was arrested in South Padre Island, Texas on April 19.
During the hearing Riess was ordered held without bond, assigned a public defender and a new court date of July 11 was set.
In Minnesota Riess is suspected of killing her husband David and has been charged with theft for stealing $11,000 from him after she allegedly killed him. She has not been charged with David's murder, but charges will be filed once the Florida charges have been tried.
