Hayfield basketball player Carrie Rutledge participated in the Minnesota Girls High School All Star Series last weekend in Northfield at Carleton College.
Alongside of her were her coaches Fred Kindschy and Kasey Krekling. Also on her team was Byron's Ayoka Lee but due to an injury, Ayoka was unable to play in the game.
The weekend started with a banquet on Friday night. The All Stars participated in a free clinic for girls in kindergarten up to fourth grade on Saturday morning helping the girls with drills. The clinic was put on by the Timberwolves and Lynx Basketball Academy and included Lynx players Rebekkah Brunson and Lindsay Whalen.
The All Star players signed the t-shirts of the clinic participants throughout the day on Saturday.
Two games were played with Carrie's team, the Stars, playing first at 1 p.m. against the Stripes.
The second game consisted of the Blue and White teams.
At halftime, Carrie was chosen to participate in a three-point shoot-out for her team along with her Red Wing teammate Tayzha Buck.
The Stars lost 107-85 but it wasn't about winning or losing, it was about making memories and playing with and against some of the top girl high school basketball players in Minnesota.
Carrie scored 10 points in the game - two three-point shots and two lay-ups.
